Yeah well I had a terrible session just now. :(
Not sure if my strategy failed or I just failed. I have started keeping track of these flights and see if I can pinpoint particular cases.

lol. Yeah the AI colleagues aren't always nice :D
Think I'll try Y later this week. I'm deep into other games right now so haven't had a chance to test it yet. As long as your workaround with CARRO works it's excellent :) One has to be a bit creative to circumvent the bugs in the game since there will prob never be any fixes.

Well, I'm learning Y, and learning how to hand off to any particular sector. I've been dumping flights off as soon as I can, making them somebody else's problem. Not very nice of me, I know, but it's payback for the crap they give me.
I think I've solved the CARRO errors by simply handing off to Center much earlier. Maybe not optimal or professional, but it seems to be working.

@wheniwasinspace, in my frustration with A I neglected to thank you for your last post, it clarified the issue.
Now, for another issue, I started working Y and I've been getting occasional handoff errors at CARRO for some reason. Most times it works fine. I started thinking the flight wasn't at sufficient altitude, but my last incident was over 120, so now I'm back to having no idea what it is. Aslo occasionally when I assign a flight to join that departure, the plane goes off course and I have to redirect it.

Well, I've given up on A, it's far too busy. On to the next sector.

I'm gonna have to take back what I wrote above...
When I sat down and actually played with the edits above the planes wasn't going where I was expecting them... I checked the coordinates for VAMPS on skyvector.com and then converted them to decimal vectors and compared to the ATCPro database... and the coordinates didn't match. So I edited the database as well to have the correct coordinates of the waypoint VAMPS. The planes still doesn't go where I was expecting... So I went back to Skyvector and took a closer look and.... VAMPS on the ATCPro map is not the location of the waypoint. At least not 2023. If you put up map 410 CHINS9 you can see the fix HUMPP on your screen. VAMPS is northwest of HUMPP on skyvector, but norteast on the ATCPro overlay. I haven't come across any aircraft that has VAMPS as part of their flight plan. It only tend to show as an exit fix. For example N551QK has KS43 as departure airport and VAMPS as the exit point. But the route reads "KS43 RADDY V187 OLM V165_KEKA" the overlay map that shows VAMPS in the game is called "DTA"... So a bit of googling and I found that to mean "Departure Transition Areas".. So... There is both a waypoint called VAMPS... but also a general area for planes to leave the tracon called VAMPS... Telling a pilot to go direct to vamps would prob make him fly to the waypoint, not to the area... This is probably why the waypoint has been omitted in the voice recog file. I would opt for sending planes on radar vectors towards the VAMPS area and as soon as traffic permits direct to the first fix of the flight plan route.. so RADDY for example. I might listen to liveATC later today and see how they do it.

Let me rephrase. It's not in the voice recognition file of the game! :) So the AI doesn't even try to hear it. But that's a relativly easy fix. The waypoint "VAMPS" is in the universal.db with an ID of 12786. 1. Make backups of the files below... 2. Edit DynamicFixImpl.txt to include vamps... With my broad swedish accent "vamps" doesn't get picked up by VR, but "vahmps" does so I have added a line in between usdaw and vashn like below. You might have to toy around with diffrent spellings to make it work perfect for your speech.
This makes the voice recog understand me and direct the plane towards the correct coordinates. The pilot can not repeat the radio message so.... 3. Edit Pronunciation.txt to tell the pilots how to say vamps. If you are happy with how they say "vamps" leave it like the quote below... otherwise toy around with "wham ps", "vaamps" or whatever floats your boat.
You will need to restart the game completly after having done these edits. As a side note... If you find yourself never using a specific waypoint but the AI often misunderstand you... Let's pretend there is a fix called "camps" and the AI often misunderstands vamp... Then remove "camps" if you never use it. That will improve voice recognition alot. And if fixes are missing (even on the map) they can still be added using these files and the DB. You could even insert completly new fixes into the db and give them whatever name you want.

I'll experiment with Paine as you suggest, but Vamps is definitely in the game, it's on the map and I wouldn't be trying to direct aircraft there if they weren't asking for it. LOL. These are minor issues, because as you say I just point them in the general direction and go from there.
About the hand-off issues, one flight in particular comes in out of the north as an overflight, and within a couple of minutes turns to the west. I have no clue what he wants. With other airfields I recall overflights being just that.... flying over then handed off to the next sector. I'll have more details next post if needed.

Probably just a typo, but just to make sure. E is arrivals, the east feeder. Departures to the east would be A.
Inside %programdata%\Flag Mountain\ATCpro\Facilities\S46\DynamixFixImpl.txt there is a list of all fixes you can send a plane to in Seattle. pain is listed as "paine everett [v o r | v o r d m e] {out="0,182616";}" which means you have to say pain everett, paine everett VOR or paine everett VOR DME for voice recog to pick it up. The pronunciation guide has been lying to you! I don't think VAMPS is included at all. I have no idea if they use that as a "direct to" IRL... But if they do you can manually add a line for it in dynamixfiximpl.txt if you look up the number from the database that goes behind "out=0,". Then the voice recog will be able to send planes there. Another solution is that you look on the flight plan and send them to the first point.. FLAAK for example. Or on a general heading and then have them "proceed on course". If you do opt for adding it to the file you also want to edit the Pronunciation.txt in the same folder so that the pilots can repeat (dynamix = for AI to hear you, pronunciation=for AI to speak it) |

I initially started playing as E, departure and approach. Had some troubles, so then I played as E departure only.
Generically speaking, Paine and Vamps just won't be accepted by speech recognition. Alder and Kmore are no problem. I'm having a lot of trouble with handing off. Many times I hand off but they won't accept it. Many times I just don't know who to hand off to, with approaching flights as well as with overflights. I really don't know what else to ask. I'm a bit confused.
