Dag nab it!  I think you may have just sold me on it Disapprove.  No one has done that before, that I know of.  Now I've got to go figure out where to scrounge up 60 bucks, so that the wife doesn't find out Dead.  I don't suppose you guys are planning a New Years Eve flash sale for early adopters...  Hint hint...

With a capability like that, it is a pity that you did not include KSFO.  Would have been a great demonstration.  Hope it is on you list of add-ons to develop.

I fully understand if you do not have answers to this yet, and I hope this does not come across as crass, but I am curious about the future road-map for this product.  Do you expect that additional sectors will come in the form of  paid add-ons, included service packs, or a combination of both?  I am almost to the point of purchasing, but am wondering if we should assume that the four included sectors will be the only ones included in the initial price point, or if there might be more on the way.

Hi Andrew,
Rather than speak about the future of the product I will say that a lot of thought went into what should be in the initial product release. We wanted to give the users good value and not make the product be dependent on addons to get the most out of it. We went above and beyond other products in the genre to offer a full six facilities (Atlanta, Miami, Albuquerque, Seattle, Kansas City, and Knoxville) of varying difficulty and complexity with each facility being divided into multiple "sectors" (Atlanta has 21!) that are playable separately or together for a large number of interesting combinations of game play. Factors such as terrain, weather, satellite airports and traffic levels add even more variation and interest.

We understand users will always be interested in working their own home area but we felt we came up with a good balance of facilities that would appeal to users with both beginner and advanced levels of experience with aviation and air traffic controlling. We are open to suggestions by users of new facilities to offer in the future. Ultimately this is an entertainment product and the name of the game is fun. We have always felt that simulating a high level of realism would appeal to users the most, offering the greatest fun and satisfaction.

I hope you give ATCpro a try and I look forward to your comments about whether we succeeded.
Thanks and have a Happy New Year!
Dave

Thanks Dave.  I actually did not realize that Seattle and Kansas City were in there too.  Actually, One suggestion I would make would be to very clearly put the full list of facilities on the main website, on the features page.  When I first came across it, I never found an actual list, and instead only got a rough idea of what was included based on the screenshots there.  I think the type of customers that this game appeals tend to be very detail oriented people, and this kind of thing can make a big difference.

P.S. I have now purchased the game, and once I get up and running I will be happy to give you my thoughts.  Happy New Year to both yourself and Tom!

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the feedback. Actually the list of facilities is on the features page but toward the bottom and not in a form that stands out. Any other suggestions like this are much appreciated!
I hope you enjoy ATCpro and I look forward to your questions and comments.
Happy New Year!

I am a potential Customer as well.  However, when I see discussions of fees for updates, I get nervous (doubly so in the flight sim industry).

Exactly what updates will be free and what will cost me money if I purchase your product?

Fees for updates to ATCpro have not been discussed by the project team yet, so it is impossible to tell you "exactly what updates will be free and what will cost me money if I purchase your product".  We will be adding additional facilities, and our current thinking (no guarantees) is that they will be priced between $0 and about $10, depending on the complexity (read: amount of effort required to implement them).  Packages containing a group of facilities are also a possibility, which would reduce the unit cost.  We simply haven't gotten that far yet.  I can say this much:  a facility such as ATL would be closer to the $10 price, and a facility such as Clovis, NM would be closer to $0.

Thanks.

I suppose I'll be particularly wondering about fees for:

-General service packs, patches, bug fix updates
-New sectors (which you answered above as yes)
-Added base features (such as those alluded as not yet implemented or in development)
-Nav data updates to sectors someone already owns (if procedures, approaches, runways change)
-Airline schedule updates (which you answered above as yes)

-General service packs, patches, bug fix updates No plans to charge for patches and bug fixes.  If a service pack includes some major new features, then yes, probably would be a charge for that.
-New sectors (which you answered above as yes)
-Added base features (such as those alluded as not yet implemented or in development) Don't plan to charge for a base feature that wasn't in the initial release.
-Nav data updates to sectors someone already owns (if procedures, approaches, runways change)  Probably no charge here.  Depends a bit on the type of update.
-Airline schedule updates (which you answered above as yes) Airline schedules undergo a significant change twice a year - when daylight time begins and ends.  We have to pay for the schedule data, so would charge enough to recover our costs for our update.
